One for the résumé...

Rosie Management                                                                                                                           Brooklyn, NY (September 2007 to present)

Founder and Creative Director

As an evolving model for curating, living, and producing, Rosie Management encapsulates its founder’s avid participation in the curation, creation, and celebration of contemporary performance in its myriad and evolving forms. It is an artist agency but also a lifestyle, applying years of experience as a producer, administrator and artist in the performing arts toward creative, administrative and producorial support for artists working in, around, under and beyond contemporary performance. Projects include offering feedback and support for directors, choreographers and performance artists along the creative process; advising on grants, residency and festival opportunities and writing/editing applications; producing and managing work of performance/visual/relational artist Genevieve Belleveau aka gorgeousTaps; and incubating “Rosie’s” own work as a domestic artist and other creative projects.

What is Rosie Management?

Um, gee, gosh, I really don't know!

My life's work, day in, day out, is severely and frustratingly inexplicable, so giving it a name/brand just made sense.

I am the founder and creative director of Rosie Management. Rosie Management is what I do/who I am. ("damn Rosie*, get a life") [*my name is not actually Rosie]

Some things included are:
  • The Domestic Arts - the art of living, entertaining, life-sized dollhouse creating ... Rosie-style!
  • My two *official* jobs - A job description exists for only one of them, though the level of love/devotion/identity is basically undefinable. The other is an evolving and amorphous quotidian of paperwork, ideas, detail, a de facto travel/visa/tax agency and resourcefulness/creative problem solving.
  • Grappling with being a creative person and not necessarily being an artist. Or being an artist and not knowing what the hell to do with it.
  • "The dream" - undefined
  • "The fantasy" - quitting everything I do and doing something totally different
  • Being a vacuum for contemporary performance/time-based art - a confused combination of pastime, work obligation, obsession. Just for the record, I rejected theater a very long time ago. Another difficult thing to explain.
  • Talking to artists, watching artists work, being as much of a resource for artists as I can
  • ...& more TBD.

... So what will happen here?  On this blog?
By contextualizing/defining/figuring out along the way what Rosie Management is, a valiant and public attempt at self-actualization. (no disrespect to my therapist)
